Our Deacons
The Deacons of Cohansey Baptist Church are an elected group of nine members of the church in good standing, who strive to lead our church to the correct spiritual atmosphere. They have general oversight of the spiritual life of the church, aid the Pastor in the execution of his duties, control the spiritual and moral use of church property, provide Christian instruction and ministry to the church membership, advise with applicants for church membership, "and have complete charge of the evangelism program of the church, arranging for special evangelistic services, evangelistic speakers, and their remuneration. Moreover, they shall endeavor to keep before the church at all times the Primary function of the church; namely, a Christ-centered and Bible-centered EVANGELISM" (quoted from the church constitution).

The Bible says this about Deacon service and leadership:
Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 3:8-13)
